Early Life and Education
Noel Jones hails from Jamaica, born to Bishop Robert and Marjorie. He grew up with seven siblings, one being the famous Grace Jones. His family moved to Syracuse, New York when he was 15.
At St. Jago High School in Syracuse, he began his education. Inspired by his love for theology, Noel went on to study at Aenon Bible College. At 26, he took on his first pastoral duty at Bethel Temple in Longview, Texas.
Current Ministry and Career Highlights
Noel Jones is currently the senior pastor at the City of Refuge Church in Gardena, California. He started his leadership journey when he took over at the Greater Bethany Community Church. It was in South Los Angeles, and around 1,000 people were in the congregation then.
Thanks to Jones’ leadership, the church grew a lot and got a new building in Gardena. Now, the City of Refuge Church has about 17,000 members. This big growth shows the strong community and ministry Jones has built.
The City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir is well-known for its music and spirituality. In 2007, they put out an album called “Welcome to the City.” It got really popular, even hitting number one on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. Their success shows how hard they work.
Also, Jones and his church were in a movie called “Hoover Street Revival”. This documentary was by Sophie Fiennes. It shows the City of Refuge Church‘s deep impact on its community.
